Job summary

Leidos seeks a Senior DevOps Engineer in Omaha, NE to lead automated deployment and modernize software platforms. You will shape infrastructure as code, standardize deployment pipelines, and mentor engineers within an Agile team operating mostly on-site with some remote work.

You will deploy across multiple contracts, leverage Kubernetes, Docker, and Ansible, and ensure secure, scalable environments while communicating effectively with stakeholders.

Qualifications

• US Citizen with ability to obtain Secret clearance.
• Bachelor’s degree and 8+ years of experience or Master’s with 6+ years; additional years may compensate for degree.
• Knowledge of DevOps trends and technologies; Git workflows in GitLab/Bitbucket or equivalent.
• Experience designing and deploying DevOps pipelines with GitLab/Jenkins and containerized apps.
• Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, Helm or Kustomize; full lifecycle automation incl. production deployments.
• Experience with Terraform, CloudFormation, Chef, Puppet, Ansible or similar infra tools.
• Experience Linux/Windows, networking; Agile teams; strong communication.

Responsibilities

As a leader, you will guide the definition, implementation, and delivery of programs focused on modernizing a variety of software systems. You’ll leverage your skills to provide their expertise in infrastructure provisioning and configuration and software deployment across the software development lifecycle. In this role, there is the potential to support multiple contracts to help provide growth and broadening opportunities within Leidos. Most of the work will be on site in Leidos' facility in Omaha, Nebraska. Some level of remote/work from home is possible.

Primary Responsibilities:

All aspects of the software development lifecycle including scope and work estimation, architecture and design, coding, Leverage open-source and in-house tools to manage infrastructure via code, designing reusable infrastructure components for scalable, highly-available, secure architectures for container-based and non-container-based applications. Assist in providing input and expertise to senior engineers to maintain alignments with best practices and recommending system improvements while overseeing the automated deployment, roll-back, and monitoring of applications into software development, test, and production environment. Mentor fellow DevOps Engineers as needed. Develop automated CI/CD build/deployment pipelines using Jenkins, GitLab, Kubernetes, Helm, Docker/Podman, and Ansible. Apply DevOps expertise to ensure congruence of the various infrastructure, software, configurations and interfaces maintained under configuration control. Work with an Agile team, attend daily scrums; communicating and collaborating frequently with teammates to ensure successful completion of project objectives. Troubleshoot and resolve installation, infrastructure, and system issues. Proactively and independently identify, report, monitor, and mitigate technical risks.

Basic Qualifications:

US Citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance. Bachelor’s degree and 8+ years of prior relevant experience or a Master’s degree with 6+ years of experience. Additional years of experience may be considered in lieu of degree. Knowledge and understanding of DevOps trends and technologies. Working knowledge of Git and experience with development workflows in GitLab, Bitbucket or an equivalent tool. Experience designing, building and deploying DevOps pipelines with GitLab, Jenkins, or equivalent tools. Experience designing and implementing application deployment pipelines and developing software in a containerized environment with Kubernetes and Docker. Experience with Kubernetes application deployment/management tools such as Helm or Kustomize. Full software lifecycle automation experience (design, development, test, deployment), including deployment to a production environment. Experience with automated provisioning and configuration tools like Terraform, CloudFormation, Chef, Puppet, Ansible or similar technologies. Experience integrating code review systems into the SCM process. Experience with Linux and Windows operating systems, network administration, and networking protocols/functions (e.g., HTTP, HTTPS, SSL/TLS, SMTP, DNS.). Experience working with Agile software development teams and implementing continuous integration and continuous delivery practices. Excellent problem solving and analysis skills, including the ability to logically create structure and order from unstructured inputs. Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

US Citizen with an active Secret security clearance or higher. Experience developing and deploying software in a DoD environment (DISA experience is a plus), including experience building and deploying software applications that meet DoD security standards and updating applications and code to meet security scans and security implementation guidelines (e.g. STIGs). Experience with GitOps concepts and related tools, such as Argo CD. Experience designing, developing and deploying software in a cloud environment (Azure is a plus). Experience with static code analysis, particularly security scans. Experience designing and building automated software testing pipelines using Ansible, Selenium, JMeter, Junit and/or other applicable tools. Kubernetes certification such as CKA or CKAD. Professional cybersecurity certification such as Security+, or similar. ITIL v3 Foundations Certification.
