Job summary

GliaCell Technologies is seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer to support a U.S. Government contract from Annapolis Junction, MD. The role focuses on building reliable platforms for microservices, automating tasks, and maintaining secure, compliant environments.

You will develop IaC, manage CI/CD with GitLab and Argo CD, and work with AWS, Kubernetes, and related tools in a SCIF setting. Strong collaboration and communication are essential for success.

Qualifications

  • Active TS/SCI with Polygraph clearance is required.
  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • 12 years of experience with a BS, or 10 years with an MS, or 14 years with an AA, or 16 years with a HS diploma.
  • Current Security+CE certification is required.
  • Works well independently and in a team.
  • Strong communication skills are essential.

Responsibilities

  • Develop Infrastructure as Code and automation scripts using Python, Ansible, and Terraform.
  • Patch, harden, and maintain RHEL security/compliance.
  • Install and optimize Kubernetes, Docker Compose, Nifi, and cloud-native logging/metrics tools.
  • Manage CI/CD pipelines with GitLab runners and Argo CD.
  • Manage AWS cloud resources and services.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members and stakeholders.
  • Work in a SCIF with limited to no remote work.

Job Description:

GliaCell is seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer on one of our subcontracts. This is a full‑time position offering the opportunity to support a U.S. Government customer. The mission is to provide technical expertise that assists in sustaining critical mission‑related software and systems to a large government contract.

The Work:

  • Provide a reliable, highly available platform that orchestrates the microservices of a modernized operational system utilizing cutting edge technologies. The DevOps Engineer will be responsible for:

Duties:

  • Developing Infrastructure As Code and scripting to automate tasks, provision managed services, and build tools. Popular programming languages for DevOps engineers include Python, Ansible, and Terraform.
  • Experience patching, hardening, and maintaining compliance of RHEL
  • Install, configure, and provide performance tuning utilizing: Kubernetes, Docker Compose, Nifi, and cloud native logging and metrics collection tools.
  • Managing CI/CD pipelines to automate building, testing, and deploying code utilizing GitLab runners and Argo CD.
  • Managing commercial cloud computing platforms (AWS).
  • Communication and collaboration: DevOps is a team-oriented discipline. Engineers need to be able to communicate and collaborate effectively with other team members, as well as with stakeholders.
  • The position allows little to no work from home and will require a significant portion or all work to be performed in a Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility (SCIF).

Key Requirements:

To be considered for this position you must have the following:

  • Possess an active or re‑statable TS/SCI with Polygraph security clearance.
  • U.S. Citizenship.
  • Professional/Education experience: 12 years & Bachelors of Science degree, or 10 years & Masters degree, or 14 years & Associates degree, or 16 years & High School diploma.
  • Current Security+CE certificate.
  • Works well independently as well as on a team.

Desired Skills:

  • Design, build, and maintain AWS infrastructure including but not limited to EC2, Lambdas, S3, SNS, SQS, Event Router, Athena, Step Functions using Terraform and auto scaling.
  • Understanding of AWS networking principles to include VPCs, NATs, IP Gateway.
  • Develop and manage GitLab CI/CD pipelines to automate deployment processes.
  • Collaborate with development teams to optimize application performance and reliability.
  • Troubleshoot infrastructure issues and ensure system uptime.
  • Kubernetes experience with a focus on EKS, ECS, and/or Fargate.

Location: Annapolis Junction, MD

Salary Range: The salary range for this full‑time position is $200,000 to $280,000. Our salary ranges are determined by position, level, skills, professional experience, relevant education and certifications. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for this position across our projects. Within the range, your salary is determined by your individual benefits package selection.
