Job summary

KBR is seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer to join the National Security Solutions team in El Segundo, CA. You will lead release management, secure cloud infrastructure, and DevOps automation across multiple projects supporting US national security missions.

The role requires 5+ years of DevOps experience, strong scripting skills, Kubernetes expertise, and hands-on experience with Terraform/OpenTofu/CloudFormation, ArgoCD, and Helm. A Secret clearance is required or must be obtainable.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or computer science or related technical field is required.
• 5+ years of DevOps software development and infrastructure design experience.
• Proficiency with Python, Bash, or PowerShell scripting.
• Ability to design, implement, and manage secure cloud infrastructure (AWS/Azure).
• Experience building and securing CI/CD pipelines with automated security scanning, container image scanning, and dependency vulnerability management.
• Knowledge of Zero Trust and secure software supply-chain principles.
• Experience administering Kubernetes clusters in production environments.
• Experience deploying applications with Helm and ArgoCD.
• Experience IaC using Terraform/OpenTofu/CloudFormation.
• Experience observability platforms such as Prometheus, Grafana, Splunk, or OpenTelemetry.

KBR’s National Security Solutions team provides high-end engineering and advanced technology solutions to our customers in the intelligence and national security communities. KBR (formerly LinQuest) is the prime contractor on the MSEIT contract. You will join a systems engineering team defining the next generation of space communication systems supporting US Space Force (USSF) satellite communications. You will support Systems Engineering & Integration (SE&I) activities in a multidisciplinary and collaborative environment. You will interface and collaborate with SE&I team members, contractors, government civilians and members of the USSF. You will lead and support several working groups responsible for leading technical discussion, resolve and identify risk, requirement gaps, developing briefings, writing, and tracking action items, and authoring meeting minutes.

The MILSATCOM Systems Engineering, Integration, and Test (MSEIT) effort provides leading edge Systems Engineering & Integration (SE&I) for the US Space Force’s Space Systems Center (SSC). We support the Space Force’s acquisition of state-of-the-art satellite communications systems, providing global secure, survivable, and protected communications for our nation’s warfighters. Key Responsibilities

• Lead release management and deployment of microservices in a Kubernetes environment (AWS EKS, Azure AKS).
• Design and implement vulnerability management, security monitoring, compliance controls, and incident response automation.
• Work with developers to implement secure coding practices and application security testing.
• Deploy DevOps practices for automating the software engineering practices across multiple projects.

• The DevOps Engineer will work directly with internal and external stakeholders to understand evolving requirements and identify key technologies and architecture design patterns used by the team.
• Stand up agile development teams and will oversee the instantiation of DevOps pipelines in both on-prem and cloud environments.

Qualifications

Required:

• Security Clearance: Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance is required for this position
• Experience and Education: Bachelor’s degree in engineering or computer science, or related technical degree
• 5+ years of DevOps software development and infrastructure design.
• Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
• Ability to design, implement, and manage secure cloud infrastructure solutions (AWS, Azure).
• Proficiency in implementing, maintaining, and managing CI/CD pipelines with security scanning tools and best practices, including container image scanning and dependency vulnerability management.
• Understanding of Zero Trust and secure software supply-chain principles.
• Experience administering and troubleshooting Kubernetes clusters in product environments.
• Experience deploying applications using Helm and ArgoCD.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code solutions including Terraform, OpenTofu, CloudFormation, and similar.
• Experience implementing observability solutions using Prometheus, Grafana, Splunk, ELK Stack, Open Telemetry, or similar platforms.
• Excellent problem-solving skills.
• Strong passion for conducting research, tackling complex problems, and continuously learning and adopting new technologies.
• Organization capability with ability to handle competing priorities.

• INCOSE certification, such as CSEP or ESEP

Basic Compensation:

$126,900 to $158,600 in El Segundo, CA

The offered rate will be based on the selected candidate’s knowledge, skills, abilities and/or experience and in consideration of internal parity.
