Job description

Senior Development Operations (DevOps) Manager

Posted on October 04, 2023

DC SCORES is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that focuses on building neighborhood teams to empower children with the skills and confidence they need to succeed on the playing field, in the classroom, and in life. Our core programming revolves around an innovative and team-based school model that combines poetry/spoken word, soccer, and service-learning into a comprehensive whole-child program. We offer these programs free of charge through our afterschool programs and summer camps.

DC SCORES is more than just an ordinary afterschool program; we are a local leader that collaborates with various sectors and communities dedicated to positive youth development. Our partnerships include the DC arts, athletics, and youth advocacy communities, as well as the Office of the State Superintendent of Education (OSSE), District of Columbia Public Schools (DCPS), DC Public Charter Schools, and DC City Council. We work closely with administrators, principals, schoolteachers, and elected and appointed government officials associated with these entities and communities to maximize opportunities for the youth we serve.

Since our establishment in 1994, we have positively impacted over 25,000 children, serving nearly 3,000 children annually. DC SCORES has been replicated in 11 cities and is part of a collaborative affiliate network, America SCORES.

DC SCORES strives to be an anti-racist organization. We are committed to applying an intersectional approach to equity and advancing the many dimensions of equity in everything we do.

DC SCORES is an organization that values teamwork, leadership, and commitment – these traits permeate all aspects of what we do and how we do it. Ultimately, we seek individuals who are fun, driven, passionate about our work, and uphold our values.

About Our Programs: Our primary focus is to serve children attending Title I schools. We are dedicated to maintaining a balanced 50/50 ratio of girls and boys in our programs. Currently, we have partnerships with over 60 public and public charter schools in the District where we provide our programming. We do not charge any program fees, ensuring that all our programming is 100% free for children and families. Many students who join DC SCORES stay with us not just for a season but for a lifetime. In fact, a typical DC SCORES poet-athlete participates in multiple program streams, often within the same year. For example, a student could participate in ES SCORES, Youth W.O.R.D. Project, Winter SCORES, and Summer SCORES simultaneously. Additionally, DC SCORES' poet-athletes have the opportunity to take part in America SCORES' National Poetry Slams and frequently receive invitations to perform at various public events and corporate gatherings across DC.

ABOUT THE POSITION

DC SCORES is looking for an ambitious, tech‑savvy, detail‑oriented professional to oversee the foundation of our fundraising department: our development operations. The Senior Development Operations (DevOps) Manager will manage all aspects of our Salesforce donor database, keeping up with trends, constantly building expertise, and training colleagues in the proper use of our CRM and other fundraising tools. They will also oversee DC SCORES’ gift processes across every revenue stream, ensuring prompt donor acknowledgment and accurate data entry. This role reports directly to the Chief Development Officer. We do not foresee this position having any managerial/supervisory responsibilities, at least initially. The focus should be on building expertise over our various tools, systems, and processes, and ensuring colleagues use and follow them consistently and effectively. The Senior DevOps Manager will be the engine behind DC SCORES’ fundraising intelligence, providing the reports and insights that will help the fundraising team exceed its revenue goals year after year. We’ve got ambitious goals as we approach our 30th Anniversary, and this role is absolutely critical to our success.

We encourage applications from qualified candidates who have lived experience as a member of historically underrepresented communities, particularly the Black and Latinx communities we predominantly serve.
