Job summary

The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York seeks a seasoned Planned Giving professional to lead gift-planning initiatives, estate administration, and donor stewardship. You will coordinate with Counsel’s Office and Finance, crafting proposals and campaigns for life income gifts.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
• 5 years in Development; at least three years in Planned Giving.
• Experience interacting with legal and financial professionals, donors, and other fundraising staff.
• Demonstrated experience establishing rapport with high-level donors and trustees.
• Thorough knowledge of deferred giving vehicles and tax implications of gifts.
• Previous experience with PG Calc and some knowledge of donor data.

GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:

You will participate in every aspect of a comprehensiveGift Planningprogram, including identifying, cultivating and tracking prospects; marketinggift planningconcepts to museum supporters; draftinggift planningproposals; soliciting and stewardinggift planningdonors; coordinatinggift planningevents; handling estate administration of financial bequests; and working as an integral part of the larger department. You will liaise with Counsel’s Office and Finance as needed, notably on estate administration and restricted funds.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:

• Manageestateadministration process in consultation with Counsel’s Office and Finance as needed.
• Develop and executeplanned givingmarketing materials for brochures, newsletters, and direct appeals and oversee production and distribution of the same.
• Track existing bequest intentions and life income gifts and steward existing donors through The Met William Society.
• Develop and cultivate a portfolio of prospects.
• Draft planned giving proposals, notably for life income gifts.
• Manage state filings related to life income gifts and work with outside administrator on management of existing life income gift pools.
• Manage planned gifts and plannedgivingdonors and prospects on the donor database.
• Manageparticular donorrelationships that require special, ongoingreportingand coordination.
• Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience.
• 5 years in Developmentrequired; at least three years of experience in Planned Giving.
• Experience interacting with legal and financial professionals, donors, and other fundraising staff.
• Demonstrated experienceestablishingrapport with high-level donors and trustees.
• Thorough knowledge of specific deferred giving vehicles and tax implications of outright and deferred gifts.
• Previousexperience with PG Calc and some knowledge of donor data.

COMPENSATION:

• Pay Range: $115,000 - $130,000 / Annually

The advertised pay scale reflects the good faith minimum and maximum salary range for this role. The advertised pay scale is not a promise of a particular wage for any specific employee. The specific compensation offered to a candidate may be dependent on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s experience, education, special licensing or qualifications, and other factors.

Location Requirements

At time of employment, employees are expected to be located within commuting distance of the Museum. “Commuting distance” means that they are located in one of following states: New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, or Pennsylvania (the “Tri-state and PA” areas), and be able to commute to and from the Museum in a single day.
