Job summary

The American Heart Association in Columbus seeks a Senior Development Director to oversee Heart Walk corporate fundraising campaigns and the Heart Walk event. The role also provides supervision to two Development Directors and partners with staff to secure sponsorships, manage donor relationships, and drive revenue growth.

Qualifications

  • 5 years of relevant experience in fundraising, sales, or related fields.
  • Proven ability to read and analyze fundraising goals and reports.
  • Strong verbal and written communication, including presentations.
  • Ability to manage local travel up to 75% with reliable transportation.
  • Experience building proposals and donor engagement materials.

Responsibilities

  • Generate revenue by prospecting and securing local corporate sponsorships and individual donations.
  • Build and maintain a pipeline of prospective sponsors and donors aligned with campaign goals.
  • Develop and present proposals to secure revenue and volunteer engagement.
  • Recruit and supervise executive volunteer leadership and day-of-event volunteers.
  • Recruit corporate team participation in Heart Walk and motivate fundraising teams.
  • Lead engagement with the Cor Vitae giving society and plan member events.
  • Plan and execute events in collaboration with internal and external partners.
  • Support campaign communication plans with the Communications Director.

We are currently hiring for a Senior Development Director in Columbus! The Senior Development Director will oversee the Heart Walk corporate fundraising campaigns which includes our signature Heart Walk event! The Senior Director will also provide supervision to two Development Directors.

Responsibilities
  • Generate revenue by prospecting and securing local corporate sponsorship and individual donations. Achieve revenue goals by building and maintaining relationships with corporate partners and donors.
  • Build and maintain a pipeline of prospective corporate sponsors and donors by conducting research that matches to the campaign goals and the Association's mission.
  • Develop and present proposals and accompanying materials to secure revenue and volunteer engagement.
  • Recruit and be responsible for executive volunteer leadership, volunteer committees, and day-of-the-event volunteers.
  • Recruit corporate team participation in Heart Walk and motivate team members to fundraise.
  • Lead and engage new individual membership for our Cor Vitae giving society, in partnership with other appropriate fundraising staff. Includes planning and implementing regular engagement events for members.
  • Plan and implement events in collaboration with internal and external partners.
  • Work with a Communications Director to support and promote campaign communication plans.
Qualifications
  • 5 years of relevant experience in fundraising, sales, or other related experience.
  • University/College degree or equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills, including large and small group presentations, group facilitation, and training. Skill in written communications to include clear and concise narrative reports, evaluations, and similar narrative pieces.
  • Ability to read, comprehend and analyze number goals, as well as fundraising reports. Skill in use of spreadsheet/database analysis.
  • Ability to do daily local travel up to 75%; requires access to reliable transportation at all times on an immediate basis.
  • Must have at least basic knowledge and skill with Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to lift and/or move large objects (such as boxes) with the expectation that heavier items would be broken down into smaller components or requesting additional assistance may be required before lifting and/or moving.
