Job summary

Navy Federal Credit Union is seeking an experienced software engineer to design, develop, test, and deploy advanced software solutions that meet business needs. You will write clean, scalable code and work with product managers, designers, and other developers to deliver reliable applications.

The role requires 5–7 years in software development, strong programming knowledge, and experience with APIs, databases, and version control. On-site roles in Vienna, VA, with proactive security practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree preferred in computer science or related field, or equivalent work experience.
• 5-7 years of experience in software development.
• Advanced knowledge of one or more programming languages.
• Significant experience with development frameworks, APIs, and database management.
• Experience with SDLC and agile methodologies.
• Significant experience with version control systems.
• Experience working with all levels of staff, management, stakeholders, vendors.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.

• Work closely with product managers, designers, and other developers to build advanced, scalable and reliable applications.
• Participate in peer code reviews and provide constructive feedback to improve code quality and team collaboration.
• Develop and execute complex unit tests, integration tests, and other quality assurance measures to ensure software reliability.
• Stay up to date with emerging technologies, frameworks, and industry trends to enhance development efficiency.
• Maintain clear technical documentation for code, processes, and system architecture.
• Optimize complex code and applications for performance, scalability, and efficiency.
• Ensure applications meet security and compliance requirements, addressing vulnerabilities proactively.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree preferred in computer science, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
• 5-7 years of experience in software development
• Complete knowledge and understanding of business area/specialization.
• Advanced in one or more programming languages.
• Significant experience with development frameworks, APIs, and database management.
• Advanced knowledge of software development lifecycle (SDLC) and agile methodologies.
• Significant experience with version control systems.
• Experience in working with all levels of staff, management, stakeholders, vendors
• Advanced skill analyzing and organizing problems or work processes for technical solutions
• Advanced skill designing and deploying new, upgraded and/or existing systems
• Advanced skill in systems analysis, workflow, or procedural analysis
• Advanced database and presentation software skills
• Advanced organizational, planning and time management skills
• Advanced verbal and written communication skills
• Advanced problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Desired Qualifications

• Master's degree in computer science, engineering, or the equivalent combination of education, training or experience.
