Job summary

EXL LifePRO/LISS in the United States seeks an experienced technical lead for Life Insurance and Annuity domain projects. You will guide architecture, oversee distributed teams, and ensure delivery of scalable solutions.

The role requires 8–12 years in mainframe/modern tech, COBOL, C#, SQL, and API design. You will mentor teams, drive code quality, and leverage AI tools like GitHub Copilot and Claude Code to improve throughput.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support multiple client engagements within the Life Insurance and Annuity domain.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders, project managers, business analysts, and development teams to analyze business requirements and design effective technical solutions.
• Participate in project planning, estimation, and solution architecture discussions.
• Conduct design reviews and provide recommendations on application architecture, data flow, and system integration.
• Ensure adherence to Project Life Cycle Methodology, IT control policies, and corporate architecture standards.
• Prepare and maintain high-level and low-level technical design documents and specifications.
• Provide technical leadership to development and support teams across onshore and offshore locations.
• Drive code quality through code reviews, best practices, and development standards.
• Identify opportunities for process improvement, automation, and adoption of emerging technologies.
• Stay current with industry trends, technologies, and market developments related to Life Insurance and Annuity products.
• Must be able to understand and leverage latest AI capabilities via enterprise tools like GitHub Copilot, Claude Code and in-house Models to gain operational efficiency and high throughput.

Essential Functions

Strong experience in Life Insurance, Annuity products, and Policy Administration Systems.

Minimum 8+ years of experience in development, maintenance, and support projects involving Mainframe technologies, preferably COBOL, DB2 / SQL , C#, and .NET.

Minimum 6+ years of experience working with SQL databases.

Strong understanding of Policy Administration System architecture and design principles.

Experience working directly with clients and managing technical delivery across distributed teams.

Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Working knowledge of version control tools like Git.

Working knowledge and understanding of AI tools and features like Skills, custom Agents, Custom instructions, MCP, hooks etc. for operational excellence with judicious token utilization.
