Job summary

Intercontinental Exchange, Inc. is seeking a Senior Developer to join the Derivatives Trading Platform team. The role combines server-side Java with modern front-end development, requiring a product mindset, ownership, and collaboration with stakeholders to deliver world-class applications.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Information Technology.
• 6+ years of Java development experience.
• Strong understanding of multi-threaded server-side development, Java concurrency, and relational databases.
• Experience with performance tuning, debugging, memory profiling, and testing (unit/integration/end-to-end).
• Knowledge of UNIX commands and tools.
• Front-end development with React is a plus.

As a Senior Developer, you will be part of a team responsible for the design, implementation and support of the Derivatives Trading Platform. This position offers a unique opportunity for both server-side and modern front-end development.

The ideal candidate must possess a product mentality, have a strong sense of ownership, and strive to be a good steward of his or her software. More than any concrete experience with specific technology, it is critical for the candidate to have a strong sense of what constitutes good software, be conscientious in picking the right technology stack, and be always open-minded to learn (from others and from failures.) This role requires frequent interactions with fellow developers, project and product managers, quality assurance, and other stakeholders, to ensure delivery of world-class applications to our users.

Knowledge and Experience

• 6+ years of experience of Java development
• Experience with and strong understanding of:
  • multi-threaded server-side development and Java concurrency
  • core Java/Java collections
  • relational databases
  • performance tuning, debugging, and memory profiling
  • unit, integration, and end-to-end tests
  • knowledge of UNIX command and tools
• Understanding of common design and architectural principles
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills to work well in a team environment
• Ability to work with little supervision and under pressure
• Proven track record of making decisions with positive outcome
• Hands-on experience using AI coding assistants(Claude Code / Cursor / GitHub Copilot) to support daily development work
• Front-end JavaScript development (with modern JavaScript web application stack such as React) preferred
