Job summary

Walter P Moore is seeking a Senior Designer in the United States (Indiana region) to join a team of engineers and designers for the design and production of civil engineering projects. The role involves translating engineering concepts to design drawings, preparing site development drawings, and using Civil 3D for road layouts, grading, drainage, and utilities.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Bachelor's degree in civil engineering.
• 6-8 years roadway design, modeling, drafting experience.
• Expertise in Civil 3D and AutoCAD 2D; familiarity with Civil 3D automation tools is a plus.
• Basic knowledge of Navisworks or Infraworks is advantageous.
• Experience on US projects is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Understand and follow instructions from Supervising engineer for engineering concepts and translate to design drawings.
• Prepare exhibits, preliminary and final site development drawings, and plan & profiles from verbal instructions, notes, and other input material from supervising engineer.
• Use Civil 3D and Civil 3D supported analysis and modeling software to perform design tasks such as road layouts, road grading, roadway drainage and utilities, surface modeling and analysis, creation of alignments, creation of corridors, profiles, sections, and material take-offs for cost opinions.
• Apply basic engineering design principles to complete assignments and help the supervising engineer manage multiple deadlines.
• Mentor and train graduate engineers, and cad technicians/designers as a technical specialist.
• Conform to company standards and organize project information per requirements.
• Work on multiple projects with tight deadlines, taking ownership to deliver on timelines.
• Manage CAD standards and Civil 3D standards across US offices.
• Collaborate with Civil group CAD manager and seniors on integrated project delivery and best practices for road design with Civil 3D.

Responsibilities

In this position, the Senior Designer will work with a team of engineers & designer, for design and production of various civil engineering projects, including the following responsibilities:

• Understand and follow instructions from Supervising engineer for engineering concepts and translate to design drawings.


• Prepare exhibits, preliminary and final site development drawings, and plan & profiles from verbal instructions, notes, and other input material from supervising engineer.


• Use Civil 3D and Civil 3D supported analysis and modeling software to perform design tasks such as road layouts, road grading, roadway drainage and utilities, surface modeling and analysis, creation of alignments, creation of corridors, profiles, sections, and material take-offs for cost opinions.

• May act as a technical specialist and advisor to mentor and train graduate engineers, and cad technicians/designers.

• Able to organize and maintain project related information per company’s requirements and standards


• Work on multiple projects with tight deadlines, taking ownership to deliver on timelines.


• Manage CAD standards, Civil 3D standards as per different US offices.


• Work with Civil group CAD manager and seniors on integrated projects delivery, CAD review, best practices for road delivery with Civil 3D.

Qualifications

• Diploma/Bachelors in civil engineering


• 6-8 years Roadway design, modeling, drafting experience


• Expert in Civil/3D and AutoCAD 2D. Knowledge of Civil 3D supported by Sub Assembly composer, other automation tools is an added advantage. Worked extensively in Civil 3D, with experience in workaround solutions, addressing software known issues, etc.


• Basic knowledge of Navisworks, Infraworks is a plus.


• Knowledge of Bentley technologies like OpenRoads, MicroStation, Projectwise is an added advantage, not necessary.


• Experience on the US projects is an added advantage
