Senior Design Systems Architect — Remote

Blacksmith Agency LLC; Arkansas; Remote; USD 120,000 - 180,000; Full time

Job summary

Blacksmith Agency seeks a senior Design Systems Engineer to own how client design systems are built. You extract patterns from brands into a working system: tokens, variables, modes, and core components your pipeline can execute.

You will ship reusable libraries across client brands, document the system for developers and pipelines, and work across multiple brands with the same rigor, while aligning with US business hours.

Qualifications

• 4+ years designing for the web, with real design system work in your portfolio.
• Fluency in Figma variables, component properties, auto layout, and variants. Actual architecture, not just tidy files.
• A portfolio where the work looks different from client to client but the rigor underneath is the same.
• Strong English and overlap with US business hours.

Responsibilities

• Build token architecture in Figma using variables, modes, and semantic naming our pipeline can read predictably.
• Ship core component libraries that hold up across an entire site, not just a homepage.
• Document the system so a developer or an automated pipeline can execute it without questions.
• Work across several client brands at once, each looking distinctly different, with the same structural rigor.
