Job summary

Savannah River Nuclear Solutions is seeking a Senior Design Specialist A to provide 2D/3D structural design support and staff augmentation. The role develops designs for complex engineering systems, prepares drawings and reports, and supports construction through reviews and resolutions.

The candidate will generate design output documents for concrete buildings, foundations, steel platforms, rebar/steel detailing, fabrication drawings, and vendor document reviews in accordance with SRNS

Qualifications

• Associate degree in a technical discipline with 10–12 years of work experience.
• Or 12–16 years of practical work experience.
• Minimum 8 years of experience as a Structural Designer.
• Experience with 3D structural modeling and Hexagon's S3D.
• Working knowledge of National Codes and Standards for structural design.
• Ability to apply advanced engineering principles and practices to resolve problems.
• Ability to produce quality technical documents with strong attention to detail.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE clearance (active clearance not required).

This position is responsible for developing designs for complex engineering systems, preparing drawings and technical reports, and supporting construction activities through technical reviews, design resolutions, and engineering services.The selected candidate will support structural design development and generate design output documents for concrete buildings and foundations, structural steel supports and platforms, buildings, rebar detailing, steel detailing, fabrication drawings, vendor document reviews, and commodity supports. Design services will be performed using SRNS processes and procedures, with programmatic guidance provided by SRNS.Associate degree in a technical discipline with 10–12 years of work experience, or 12–16 years of practical work experience.At least 8 years of experience as a Structural Designer, including structural detailing and design of building structures and commodity supports.Knowledge of 3D structural modeling and experience using Hexagon's S3D software.Working knowledge of National Codes and Standards for structural design.In-depth knowledge of engineering systems, applications, calculations, materials, construction methods, and relevant computer applications.Ability to apply advanced engineering principles and practices to resolve problems identified by construction organizations in a timely manner.Ability to produce quality technical documents with strong attention to detail.Ability to maintain knowledge of new technologies and hardware within the industry.Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q security clearance. An active DOE clearance is not initially required.
