The City of Riverside seeks highly skilled attorneys for the Deputy City Attorney II and Senior Deputy City Attorney roles in the Litigation Division. The positions involve defending the City in civil matters, handling pretrial work, depositions, and discovery, and presenting to City Council.

A JD and substantial municipal or government experience are required. Successful candidates will contribute to a fast-paced office, collaborate with departments and committees, and mentor newer attorneys

Qualifikationen

• Civil litigation experience and trial experience are highly desired.
• Proven ability to work as part of a team and solve problems in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience in municipal or government law and employment law is preferred.

Aufgaben

• Perform legal research and prepare written and oral opinions for the City Council, departments, and boards.
• Prepare and review ordinances, resolutions, contracts, deeds, leases, and other legal documents.
• Represent the City in litigation, including discovery, depositions, experts, law and motion, mediation, and trial preparation.
• Provide mentorship to junior Deputy City Attorneys and collaborate with City Council committees and agencies.
• Cross-train staff and perform related duties as assigned.
