Wilson Elser - Austin is seeking a Senior Defense Litigation Attorney with 8+ years of experience in general liability, premises, products, construction, transportation, or insurance. The role offers a hybrid schedule and exposure to prominent national clients while working with in-house counsel and cross-office teams.

Qualifications

• JD from ABA accredited law school (required).
• Admitted to practice in Texas.
• 8+ years of defense litigation experience.
• Experience with general liability, premises, products, transportation, construction, or insurance preferred.
• Superior analytical and strong written/oral communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Independently manage a complex defense litigation caseload from inception through resolution, including trial, mediation, or negotiated settlement.
• Develop and implement case strategy, including early case assessment and discovery planning.
• Draft and argue motions, pleadings, briefs, and memoranda in state and federal courts.
• Take and defend depositions; manage written discovery and coordinate with expert witnesses.
• Represent clients at hearings, mediations, arbitrations, and other proceedings.
• Provide strategic legal advice and regular updates to clients and in-house counsel.
• Collaborate with partners across offices on multi-jurisdictional matters.
• Supervise and mentor junior attorneys and support staff.
• Participate in trial preparation, witness prep, exhibit management, and trial strategy.
• Maintain strong client relationships and deliver high-quality work.
