Job summary

Bren-Tronics, a part of EnerSys, seeks a Senior Manufacturing Engineer to lead manufacturing for defense battery products. This role focuses on transitioning designs to production, optimizing assembly areas, and driving continuous improvement in a high-reliability environment.

You will ensure compliance with defense manufacturing standards, mentor teams, and support audits and customer inspections while controlling costs and maintaining product integrity.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
• 10+ years of manufacturing engineering experience, with 3+ years in battery/defense production.
• Strong knowledge of battery technologies and DoD requirements.
• Experience with root cause methodologies (5 Whys, Fishbone, FMEA) and CAPA.
• Hands-on design and optimization of manufacturing processes, lines, tooling, and fixtures.
• Familiarity with MIL-STD, AS9100, ITAR and defense manufacturing compliance.
• Proficiency in SPC, lean, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement.
• Ability to read engineering drawings and write SOPs.
• Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead cross-functional teams to transition new defense battery products from design to production.
• Design and optimize battery assembly areas to meet DoD requirements and throughput goals.
• Drive manufacturing improvements to reduce cycle time, scrap, and costs.
• Define requirements for specialized production equipment, tooling, fixtures, and test setups.
• Ensure compliance with MIL-STD, AS9100, ITAR across processes and work instructions.
• Develop and deliver training and SOPs for production teams.
• Manage manufacturing engineering and act as SME for battery processes and materials.
• Support audits and customer inspections to maintain certifications.
• Monitor yield, perform root-cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.
