Qualifications

  • Four+ years’ experience in healthcare and/or information systems.
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, IT, or business admin (or 3+ years with an associate’s).
  • Strong critical thinking, logic, and analytical skills for financial/operational improvement.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for customer interactions.

Responsibilities

  • Translate financial or clinical needs into business requirements and maintain IT systems.
  • Develop service line analyses, business plans, and project feasibility studies.
  • Provide accurate, timely information to clinicians and executives; create custom reports.
  • Support budget preparation and payer contract modeling; assist with negotiations.
  • Analyze pricing changes to aid chargemaster management.

The Sr Decision Support Analyst will provide analysis to translate financial or clinical needs into business requirements and ensure that department information systems are maintained and can provide the necessary outputs for decision making. Maintain and enhance the decision support systems which include building system components, testing, and documentation of processes. Perform quality assurance and integrated testing of current and newly released vendor functionality. Develop and present service line analysis, business plans, and project feasibility studies. Provide management, physicians, and clinical staff with accurate and timely information for more effective decision making by analyzing requests for information and creating custom reports; advise and make recommendations for improvement based on data analysis and interpretation; educate customers about costs and appropriate data analysis. Prepare the Net Patient Revenue Budget. Manage commercial payer contract modeling for patient revenue and assist with payer negotiation needs as requested. Provide analysis on strategic pricing changes to assist with chargemaster management for the organization.

Required Qualifications
  • Minimum of four years’ experience in healthcare and/or information systems required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, information technology, management engineering, or business administration required.
  • OR associate’s degree in other major with 3 or more years of hospital experience.
  • Proven critical thinking, logic, and analytical skills to identify and comprehend opportunities/problems for financial and operational improvement through data analysis and interpretation required.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills needed for the variety of customer interactions associated with this position required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior relevant work experience in a healthcare setting preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, information technology, management engineering, or business administration preferred.
  • Expert knowledge and extensive interest in Microsoft Office including Excel, Access, Word and PowerPoint preferred.
  • Comprehensive database knowledge including query and Crystal report writing skills preferred.
  • Proficient knowledge of cost behavior, managed care reimbursement, business planning, and financial feasibility studies preferred.
  • Knowledge of medical records coding terminology preferred.
