Job summary

ABB Inc. in Houston, TX is seeking a Senior Project Engineer to shape and deliver automation solutions for medium to large complex projects. You will manage technical deliverables, coordinate with vendors and customers, and support costed proposals while ensuring safety and quality standards.

Responsibilities include on-site and remote issue resolution, design and testing of automation enclosures and control logic, and developing work plans with budgets. Domestic travel is required up to 25%.

Qualifications

Bachelor's or foreign equivalent in Engineering, CS, or related field with 8 years of experience on projects involving Distributed Control Systems.
5 years of experience in Oil, Gas, and Chemical Industries.
Experience programming DCS and HMI.
Knowledge of Functional Safety standards and processes.
Experience with Modbus, OPC, and Profibus.
Control logic programming using structured text, function blocks, and narratives.
Design of control hardware panels (controllers, I/O, switches).
Ethernet networking for industrial automation.
Leading projects and coordinating between vendors, customers, and project management.
Testing and commissioning Distributed Control Systems; FAT/SAT experience.
Willingness to travel domestically 25%.

Responsibilities

Shape and deliver solutions for medium to large complex projects.
Resolve technical issues remotely and at customer sites in US and abroad.
Assist Project Managers with claims, customer specifications and safety standards.
Manage costs, deliverables, and schedules for sales proposals.
Design, test, and commission automation enclosures, control logic, and HMI.
Create work plans, budgets, and risk assessments.
Develop and apply standard techniques and tools.
Report inefficiencies and identify improvement opportunities.
