Eliassen Group is seeking a Senior DBA for a remote contract role to support federal child support enforcement applications. The candidate will design and optimize PostgreSQL and MySQL on Amazon RDS, automate deployments with Python, Shell, Ansible, and CloudFormation, and ensure robust disaster recovery and performance improvements.

U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Resident with an active Public Trust is required.

Formación

• Experience administering AWS Glue databases and Athena tables.
• Experience with AWS services such as Lambda, Lake Formation, QuickSight, DynamoDB, Redshift, MSK/Kafka, Kinesis, ElastiCache, and OpenSearch.
• Experience with containerization and PostgreSQL/MySQL workloads on ECS/EKS or via RDS Proxy.
• Experience supporting Java and PySpark applications.
• Experience developing and executing Ansible scripts.

Responsabilidades

• Analyze business and technical requirements to propose database solutions for online and batch Java-based and AWS Glue/Apache Spark-based systems.
• Coordinate with teams to define system requirements, data flows, and testing support for database components.
• Design and deploy scalable PostgreSQL and MySQL solutions on Amazon RDS and suggest schema and data model improvements.
• Create, deploy, and maintain database scripts, stored procedures, tables, triggers, and materialized views using Python, Shell, Ansible, and AWS CloudFormation.
• Manage database operations including upgrades, restores, schema changes, user management, failover, and disaster recovery.
• Communicate database changes with management, developers, and users.
• Assess capacity and performance, right-size RDS instances, enable storage autoscaling, and forecast resources.
• Maintain a central repository of data architecture artifacts and security controls.
• Maintain and test backup and recovery strategies for applications and databases.
• Perform root cause analysis and issue resolution; monitor health with CloudWatch Database Insights.

Our client seeks a Senior DBA to support database operations and design improvements for a portfolio of online and batch applications serving a Federal Office of Child Support Enforcement program. The role will analyze requirements, design and optimize PostgreSQL and MySQL on Amazon RDS, automate deployments, manage upgrades and recovery, and drive performance and capacity improvements while coordinating with cross-functional teams.

Due to federal security clearance requirements, applicant must be a United States Citizen or Permanent Resident with an active Public Trust clearance. Skills, experience, and other compensable factors will be considered when determining pay rate. The pay range provided in this posting reflects a W2 hourly rate; other employment options may be available that may result in pay outside of the provided range.

Responsibilities

• Analyze business and technical requirements to propose database solutions for online and batch Java-based and AWS Glue/Apache Spark-based systems, including troubleshooting deadlocks, long-running transactions, and connection pool or isolation level issues.
• Coordinate with business and technology teams to define system requirements, data flows, and testing support for database components.
• Design and deploy scalable, high-performance PostgreSQL and MySQL solutions on Amazon RDS, and recommend schema and data model improvements.
• Create, deploy, and maintain database scripts, stored procedures, tables, triggers, and materialized views, using automation and scripting with Python, Shell, Ansible, and AWS CloudFormation.
• Manage database operations with minimal oversight including configuration, upgrades including blue/green, restores with pg_dump and pg_restore, schema changes, user and password management, failover, disaster recovery, and replication.
• Communicate and coordinate database changes and operations with management, developers, and users.
• Assess and improve capacity and performance, including capacity planning, right-sizing RDS instances, storage autoscaling, and resource forecasting.
• Maintain a central repository of data architecture artifacts including data dictionaries, procedures, scripts, and security controls.
• Maintain and test backup and recovery strategies for applications and databases.
• Perform troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and issue resolution.
• Monitor database health, transactions, and resource utilization using tools such as Amazon CloudWatch Database Insights.

Experience Requirements

• Experience creating and administering AWS Glue databases and Athena tables.
