Role overview

A federal government program is hiring a Senior Database Developer to lead the design, governance, and ongoing stewardship of mission-critical data systems. The role blends hands-on data engineering with client-facing responsibilities, serving as the primary point of contact for a Contracting Officer and Contracting Officer's Representative while also guiding an analyst team.

Responsibilities

• Assess the client's existing data systems and architect a coherent data management framework, including a secure central repository.
• Build and enforce data validation rules, automated cleansing routines, and deduplication pipelines to keep datasets trustworthy.
• Implement role-based access controls, backup procedures, and disaster-recovery plans aligned with least-privilege principles.
• Develop automated pipelines for data collection, transformation, and reporting, and maintain a living data dictionary and naming standards.
• Serve as the named point of contact for the federal client, responding to requests within 24 hours and maintaining visibility across the contract.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree and 8+ years of relevant experience.
• Deep database expertise, including schema design, data warehouse architecture, and pipeline development in SQL.
• Demonstrated experience standing up or improving a data governance framework covering data quality, security, and access control.
• Track record of being the trusted client-facing lead on a contract, not only a behind-the-scenes technical contributor.
• U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust security clearance.

Nice to have

• Prior federal statistical, data, or reporting program experience.
• Working proficiency with Python, Java, SQL, and Tableau, including dashboard development.
• An AWS certification.
