What to Expect (Job Responsibilities)

• Provide comprehensive support for all database and application infrastructure aspects for a diverse client base
• Analyze client infrastructure and processes, recommending best practices to enhance operational procedures
• Administer backup procedures and disaster recovery plans, ensuring maximum uptime and recoverability for all databases
• Develop and maintain complex data architectures and perform data transformation and migration using scripts or stored procedures
• Prepare client status and incident reports, responding to client requests and inquiries

What is Required (Qualifications)

• Knowledge and experience in installing, configuring, and upgrading PostgreSQL databases and tools relevant to PostgreSQL administration
• Experience administering PostgreSQL in virtualized and cloud environments, especially AWS, GCP, or Azure
• Proficiency in scripting (bash/python) and software development (C++, Java, Go) as well as automation technologies such as Ansible, Terraform, Puppet, Chef, SALT
• Strong debugging skills with the ability to troubleshoot methodically and resolve complex issues
• Very good documentation skills

How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications)

• Understanding of current IT service standards such as ITIL
• Experience with monitoring PostgreSQL databases using industry-standard tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, and others
• Experience in setting up and administering PostgreSQL on Kubernetes
• Familiarity with High Availability (HA) solutions for PostgreSQL, including Patroni and repmgr
• Experience with PostgreSQL backup tools such as Barman, pgBackRest, and managing Point-in-Time Recovery (PITR)
