Job summary

The Walt Disney Company is seeking a Database Administrator to ensure the performance, security, and reliability of our database platforms across on-premises and cloud environments. This role supports SQL Server (self-hosted), SQL Server Managed Instance, Azure SQL, Managed PostgreSQL, and InfluxDB to ensure databases are available, scalable, and operating efficiently.

• Experience administering database platforms in production environments.
• Knowledge of backup, recovery, and disaster recovery processes.
• Familiarity with on-premises and cloud-based database deployments.
• Ability to monitor performance, apply patches, and tune queries.

Responsibilities

• Administer and maintain database platforms across SQL Server (self-hosted), SQL Server Managed Instance, Azure SQL, PostgreSQL, and InfluxDB.
• Ensure availability, reliability, and operational stability for production and non-production systems.
• Manage performance and capacity to support current operations and future growth.
• Own backup, recovery, and restoration responsibilities to protect data integrity.
• Monitor database health and address incidents impacting uptime, performance, or security.
• Implement and support database changes, releases, and migrations.
• Maintain database security and access controls.
• Support patching, maintenance, and lifecycle management across environments.
• Collaborate with application, infrastructure, and BI teams for deployments and incidents.
• Support DevOps-related activities and release coordination.
• Troubleshoot and resolve database-related incidents and service interruptions.
• Develop and maintain database operational standards and procedures.
• Evaluate emerging database technologies including Snowflake.
