Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and optimize T-SQL queries, stored procedures, functions, views, and scripts.
  • Monitor and tune database performance via indexing, execution plans, and query optimization.
  • Manage index maintenance and statistics optimization.
  • Develop and optimize Power BI datasets and DAX expressions for reporting and analytics.
  • Collaborate across units to map data structures and create ER diagrams.
  • Ensure database performance through proactive maintenance and updates.

ECS is seeking a Senior Database Administrator (Top Secret Cleared) to work in Quantico, VA (Hybrid).

Are you ready to play crucial role in supporting cutting-edge technology for federal law enforcement and scientific organizations with IT services and support for hardware, IT systems, applications, and operational technologies that support mission critical operations? ECS is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Database Administrator to support a strategic laboratory program in support of our DOJ FBI Client. The scope of this program is to enhance enterprise services and solutions to this FBI component, as part of an integrated evaluation, integration, strategy, design, implementation, and operational maintenance program. This position is located in Quantico, VA.

This position is responsible for administering, troubleshooting, and maintaining databases. The ideal candidate will have experience in various database technologies and have a strong understanding of on‑premises solutions such as Microsoft SQL Server and cloud-based database solutions within AWS. Additionally, the successful candidate will be an active contributor to our database operations and use technology to continuously improve the team's performance.

Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, optimize, and maintain complex T-SQL queries, stored procedures, functions, views, and database scripts to support enterprise applications and reporting requirements.
  • Monitor and tune database performance through query optimization, indexing strategies, and execution plan analysis.
  • Develop, manage, and continuously improve index management and statistics optimization.
  • Develop, design, and support Power BI datasets, ensuring efficient integration with SQL queries, views, and underlying data models.
  • Develop and optimize Power BI DAX expressions for advanced reporting and analytics.
  • Experienced with design and implementation of complex data structure types and integrations across multiple organizational units.
  • Experience with mapping and creating entity relationship diagrams.
  • Ensure database performance through proactive query optimization.

Salary Range: $165,000 - $185,000

Required Skills
  • US citizenship with active Top-Secret clearance
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field, or additional 3 years of experience.
  • Minimum of 8 years’ experience recommended. In absence of years of experience, certifications or past work may be used to show the level of experience needed to perform at this level.
  • Strong proficiency in SQL query writing, query tuning, and performance optimization
  • Strong understanding of database architecture and design.
  • Knowledge of database security and access controls.
  • Advanced knowledge of SQL and database query languages.
  • Expertise in troubleshooting, performance tuning, and query optimization.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Experience monitoring, performing updates, upgrades, testing, and other associated preventative maintenance and support functions related to Database Platforms
Desired Skills
  • Prior federal government experience supporting scientific organizations or law enforcement communities
  • Experience in assessment, evaluation, and migration of on-premises databases to a cloud environment
  • Experience in assessment, evaluation, and documentation of client environment, infrastructure, process, operations
