Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • 4–7 years of progressive database administration experience.
  • Proficiency with Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, or PostgreSQL and solid DB design knowledge.
  • Experience with database security, backup and recovery, disaster recovery planning, data warehousing, ETL processes, and data integration tools.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills for cross-functional work.
  • Active SECRET security clearance or ability to obtain and maintain clearance as required by the client.
  • U.S. citizenship and willingness to travel less than 10% of the time.

Responsibilities

  • Administer and optimize production and non-production databases (Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL) with advanced schema design.
  • Design and tune indexing, statistics, and query plans for high-volume workloads.
  • Develop backup, restore, and disaster recovery strategies and lead recovery tests.
  • Implement strong security controls including encryption, RBAC, privileged access, and auditing.
  • Lead database upgrades, patch cycles, and cross-environment migrations.
  • Design and support ETL data integration across operational databases, data warehouses, and analytics platforms.
  • Perform capacity planning and storage management to balance performance and cost.
  • Troubleshoot incidents such as deadlocks and long-running queries using diagnostics.
