Greenberg Traurig, LLP (GT) seeks a Senior Database Administrator to architect, administer and optimize enterprise SQL Server databases across global offices, with remote work options. The role partners with application owners and IT teams to ensure security, reliability and scalable access to data.

The ideal candidate has 8–10 years' experience in MS SQL Server, deep knowledge of security, clustering, DR, and SSIS/SSRS.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent required.
  • 8–10 years of experience with enterprise MS SQL Server databases.
  • Experience configuring, operating and maintaining MS SQL Server in on‑prem and cloud environments.
  • Strong knowledge of SQL Server design, security, DR planning and documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain enterprise SQL database operations including updates and patches.
  • Ensure database security and compliance with standards (GDPR, HIPAA, etc.).
  • Review and optimize architecture and database systems across the firm.
  • Architect and implement new database systems as needed.
  • Monitor performance and perform tuning for optimal operation.
  • Troubleshoot enterprise database servers and related systems.
  • Support audits and provide required documentation.
  • Plan DR and backup testing and implementation.
  • Create custom queries, SSRS subscriptions, scripts and migration tasks.

This role can be based in various offices, on a remote basis. This role reports to the Director of Network Systems.

Position Summary

The Senior Database Administrator (DBA) is responsible for architecting, administering and optimizing all enterprise SQL Server databases, ensuring security, reliability, and scalability. The DBA collaborates with application owners and IT teams to support business operations and provides technical guidance to users accessing enterprise data.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintains all enterprise SQL database operations including SQL server updates and patches
  • Maintains database security and compliance with company, industry and government standards (GDPR, HIPAA, etc.)
  • Reviews current architecture and updates and optimizes all the firm’s enterprise database systems
  • Architects and implements new database systems
  • Proactively monitors database performance and performs database tuning for optimal performance
  • Troubleshoots enterprise database servers and related systems
  • Supports system audits and provides documentation as required
  • Plans testing and implementation of DR and backup processes to ensure continuous operation
  • Creates custom queries, data-driven SSRS subscriptions, migration scripts, and executes other tasks as needed
Qualifications
Skills & Competencies
  • Sound understanding of SQL Server technology features and limitations
  • In-depth, advanced knowledge of SQL Server database structures, security, storage solutions, virtualization, replication, and clustering
  • Ability to create performance projections based upon hardware, OS, databases design, query structures and interactions between external systems with the database servers
  • Ability to evaluate and recommend technological changes in the database environment to support business objectives
  • Proficiency in automation and scripting (e.g., PowerShell)
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with an ability to effectively communicate technical details to persons without technical experience
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to accurately follow documented procedures and a strong aptitude for learning new technologies as they are incorporated into the computing environment
Education & Prior Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum 8 to 10 years’ experience in design, development, administration, and maintenance of enterprise-level MS SQL Server database systems
  • Demonstrable experience configuring, operating and maintaining Microsoft SQL Server, both on-prem and cloud environments
  • Demonstrable experience in database design, creating standards and processes, capacity planning, disaster recovery planning, accessibility, scalability and documentation for SQL Server
  • Demonstrable experience in development of complex queries, SSIS Packages and SSRS reports
    The expected pay range for this position is:$123,371- $136,060 Per yearActual pay will be adjusted based on experience, location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. Full time employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus, health insurance with an optional HSA, short term disability, long term disability, dental insurance, vision care, life insurance, Healthcare and Dependent Care Flexible Spending Accounts, 401K, vacation, sick time, and an employee assistance program.
