Job summary

The Swift Group seeks an experienced Data Scientist to lead hands-on data science work while designing and delivering training programs for data scientists. This role is based in McLean, VA and supports mission-focused projects across Civilian, Defense, and IC customers.

You will design onboarding, train and mentor junior staff, and collaborate with stakeholders to turn mission needs into practical training materials and scalable analytics solutions.

Qualifications

• BS/MS in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, or related field, or equivalent experience
• Minimum 10 years of data science experience
• Advanced Python proficiency
• Expert SQL across multiple data sources with optimization
• Git-based workflows with PRs and code reviews
• Linux fundamentals and Conda environment management
• Proficient in Jupyter Notebooks for demos and reproducible assets
• Strong communication and coaching mindset

Responsibilities

• Design onboarding and upskilling programs for data scientists
• Deliver in-person trainings including full-day classroom sessions
• Create training materials and playbooks for complex topics
• Establish best practices for version control, code review, and CI for DS teams
• Document tools and methodologies with Sphinx
• Partner with stakeholders to translate mission needs into training and tooling
