Job summary

Target in Minnesota is seeking a Sr Data Scientist for Recommendations (RecSys) to design and deploy AI-driven predictive algorithms at scale. You will collaborate with data scientists, ML engineers and product managers to build AI-powered recommendation products, optimize ranking and personalization, and push solutions to production in a hybrid work setting.

The role requires strong Python/SQL, deep learning experience with PyTorch or JAX, and the ability to communicate complex results to both

Qualifications

• MS or PhD in Computer Science, ML, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, OR relevant work experience.
• 3+ years of experience building ML models using DL frameworks (PyTorch or JAX).
• Experience with recommendation, personalization, search, ranking or retrieval systems at scale.
• Strong programming skills in Python and SQL.
• Experience with optimization, statistics, probability and experimental design.
• Experience evaluating models offline and online in large-scale datasets.
• Knowledge of Spark and large-scale data processing.
• Experience leveraging generative AI tools to accelerate development.
• Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
• Self-driven and team-oriented in global environment.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with data scientists, ML engineers and product managers to build AI-driven recommendation products.
• Develop and maintain scalable data science solutions from requirements to production.
• Document and present findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Follow Agile practices and maintain well-tested codebase with relevant documentation.
• Analyze performance trade-offs and iterate on models.
