Job summary

Lam Research seeks a senior Data Scientist to own surrogate models and virtual twins at the intersection of computational physics and ML, delivering end-to-end development from experiments to production Python code. You’ll collaborate with physicists, engineers, and software teams in a hybrid on-site model.

Ideal candidates have a Ph.D. or Master’s with extensive ML experience, strong foundations in statistics, and expertise in physics-based simulations and optimization techniques.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree with 6+ years of experience or Ph.D. with 3+ years in a quantitative field.
• Hands-on data science with end-to-end ML on real datasets, solid stats.
• Experience building surrogate models and physics-aware ML.

Responsibilities

• Build and scale physics-aware ML and surrogate models for multi-physics simulations.
• Apply data science methods to simulated and experimental data.
• Implement Bayesian optimization and active learning for design/calibration.
• Run simulations to generate training data and sampling strategies.
• Write robust Python code in production-style software workflows.
• Collaborate with physicists, process engineers, and software developers.
