Job summary

Grubhub is seeking a Senior Staff Data Scientist to shape the strategic direction of applied data science and mentor senior scientists. You will collaborate with engineering, product, operations, and business leaders to productionize models and insights that move business metrics.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of industry experience with MS or 6+ years with PhD.
• Proven experience applying data science and ML to complex business problems.
• Deep expertise in causal inference, experimentation, and modeling.
• Strong SQL and Python proficiency.
• Experience taking DS/ML systems to production with engineering collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a technical thought leader in Data Science and ML.
• Mentor and coach a growing team of Data Scientists.
• Lead exploration of interconnected marketplace systems and feedback loops.
• Develop causal inference and experimentation frameworks to drive business impact.
• Partner with engineering on data layers, feature pipelines, modeling APIs, and production ML services.
• Define robust experimentation strategies for high-noise environments.
