Job summary

Coinbase is seeking a Senior Data Scientist for the Institutional team to build models for fee schedules, analyze Prime Broker offerings, and support DeFi onboarding for institutions. You will drive analyses, own data metrics, and contribute to data-informed decisions.

Ideal candidates will have a quantitative degree with 3+ years (or 5+ years with BA/BS), strong SQL/Python skills, and a track record of rigorous experimentation and stakeholder storytelling. Competitive compensation is offered.

Qualifications

• BA/BS in a quantitative field with ≥5+ years of relevant experience or PhD with ≥3+ years of relevant experience.
• Proven ability to drive impactful data science projects tackling ambiguous problem spaces.
• Ability to influence external stakeholders by synthesizing data learnings into compelling stories.
• Practical expertise applying complex modeling frameworks to practical business problems.
• Professional experience using SQL and Python.
• Experience working with digital products in an iterative development cycle.
• Demonstration of core cultural values: clear communication, positive energy, continuous learning, and efficient execution.
• Demonstrates the ability to responsibly use generative AI tools (e.g., LibreChat, Gemini, Glean) in daily workflows.

Responsibilities

• Conduct analysis and deep dives on ambiguous problems to produce insights and recommendations.
• Own a broad scope of data and metrics, from core logging to visualizations.
• Guide code reviews, provide SQL and Python expertise, and create ETL jobs.
• Maintain a high bar for statistical rigor with experimentation and causal analyses.
