Upgrade, Inc. is seeking a highly analytical Data Scientist to join its BNPL Flex Pay team. You will build predictive risk models, optimize offers and pricing, and extract insights to drive product development, risk management, and customer strategy.

The role is ideally based in San Francisco on a hybrid basis, with consideration for remote candidates. A MS/PhD and 3-5+ years in data science, strong Python/SQL, and ML experience are required; you will collaborate with risk, marketing, product,

Qualifications

• Advanced degree in a quantitative field.
• 3-5+ years in data science or analytics, preferably in financial services.
• Experience with machine learning techniques (e.g., Random Forest, Gradient Boosted Trees).
• Strong Python and SQL proficiency.
• Ability to write documentation and present analyses to varied audiences.
• Proactive, fast-paced, and collaborative.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain credit and fraud policy simulators.
• Develop and deploy statistical models and ML algorithms for risk, pricing, segmentation, and marketing attribution.
• Validate models and assess factors affecting performance.
• Analyze large datasets using SQL, Python, or similar tools.
• Stay updated on data science trends and fintech advances.
• Collaborate with risk, marketing, product, and engineering teams.
