Job summary

Sony Interactive Entertainment in San Diego, CA seeks a Senior Data Scientist focused on Experimentation & Measurement to design and interpret experiments evaluating migration initiatives, growth marketing, and campaign performance.

You will lead A/B tests, apply causal inference, partner with product and engineering, and help scale our experimentation framework while extracting insights with SQL and Python to inform strategic decisions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent required.
• 5+ years in data science experimentation-focused role (3+ with PhD).
• Deep expertise in A/B testing and causal inference, including quasi-experimental methods.
• Proficiency in SQL for data extraction and transformation.
• Proficiency in Python with statistical and data science libraries.
• Experience influencing product and business decisions through insights.
• Experience contributing to experimentation frameworks or internal tooling.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, execution, and interpretation of A/B tests and quasi-experiments to evaluate migration initiatives, growth marketing, and campaign performance.
• Partner with cross-functional teams to embed experimentation into development cycles.
• Serve as a thought leader on hypothesis development, metric selection, test structure, and results communication.
• Apply advanced causal inference methods when experiments are not feasible or to inform test design.
• Help define and contribute to centralized experimentation frameworks, tools, and documentation.
• Independently extract, transform, and analyze data from complex systems using SQL, Python, and other analytics tools.
• Communicate findings clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders to drive business decisions.
• Stay current on methodologies in experimentation and causal analysis.
