Job summary

Gopuff is seeking a Senior Data Scientist on the Delivery Technology Team to lead data-driven models for optimizing the delivery experience for consumers and partners, including dispatch, routing, ETAs, and driver incentives.

You will own end-to-end development of deep learning ETA systems, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and apply causal inference to boost customer experience and operational efficiency. On-site and remote options are available.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in delivery and/or logistics or 8+ years in data science.
• Ability to translate ambiguous business problems into well-defined technical objectives.
• Expertise in machine learning, statistics, and experimentation.
• Proficiency in Python, SQL, and source control tools.

Responsibilities

Job description

As a Senior Data Scientist at Gopuff working on the Delivery Technology Team, you will lead the vision and delivery of data‑driven models to optimize the delivery experience for consumers and delivery partners across dispatch optimization, delivery routing/ETAs, driver pricing/incentives, and the delivery partner experience.

Responsibilities

• Own the end‑to‑end development and operation of deep learning–based ETA prediction systems—building features, training/testing models, running experiments, monitoring and explaining performance in production.
• Collaborate with business, product, and engineering partners to envision and deliver data science solutions for practical business problems.
• Deeply understand users, products, and data to identify opportunities for machine learning, optimization, and causal inference solutions to enhance customer experience and operational efficiency.
• Build data‑driven, robust and replicable data science models.
• Use experimentation and causal inference to measure the impact of models on user engagement and business metrics.

Qualifications

• MS or PhD in Operations Research, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field with 2+ years of experience in delivery and/or logistics (or 8+ years of industry experience in data science).
• Strong ability to translate ambiguous business problems into well‑defined technical objectives and provide concrete data science solutions.
• Expertise in machine learning, statistics, and experimentation.
• Proficiency in Python, SQL, and source control management tools.

Compensation

• On‑site Base Salary Range: $175,000 - $195,000
• Remote Base Salary Range: $155,000 - $175,000
• Discretionary annual cash bonus and participation in Gopuff’s equity incentive plan.
