Job summary

Air is seeking a Lead Data Scientist to provide visionary technical leadership for a team of data scientists and AI engineers. You will drive end-to-end development and deployment of AI solutions for national security clients, applying advanced simulation, optimization, and ML techniques.

You will mentor engineers, lead complex defense projects, and shape the AI platform, the “brain” of Air, for a broad professional community.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 7 years of professional experience as a Data Scientist in an industry setting.
• Oversee the full lifecycle of large-scale AI projects.
• Deep knowledge of DES, agent-based modeling, Monte Carlo methods.
• Experience with stochastic optimization and Bayesian optimization.
• Ability to translate high-level requirements into actionable technical plans.
• Mentor and coach team members and foster a culture of technical excellence.

Responsibilities

• Drive development of a multi-modal decision intelligence system across AI, simulation, optimization, and predictive modeling.
• Define multi-year technical roadmap for AI initiatives and align with business goals.
• Mentor Senior-level engineers and build high-performing teams delivering state-of-the-art results.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure robust architectures and actionable roadmaps.
• Lead end-to-end execution of large-scale AI projects from ideation to production deployment.
• Champion innovation, stay current with LLMs and agentic systems, and promote best practices.
