Job summary

Southern Glazer's Wine and Spirits, North America's largest beverage distributor, seeks a Senior Data Scientist to craft advanced models and translate business needs into actionable insights for executive decisions. You will guide projects end-to-end, collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive data-driven outcomes while improving data processes and performance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s, Master’s or PhD in mathematics, statistics or computer science (master’s preferred).
• Typically 5+ years of quantitative and qualitative research, analytics, data science or ML experience.
• Experience with ML algorithms and relational databases.
• Experience with data science modeling, analytics, BI or data-driven strategy.
• Experience managing and delivering complex technical products.
• Experience performing statistical analysis and visualization.
• Native-level English proficiency.

Overview

The Senior Data Scientist is involved in crafting advanced models to predict trends and transform business requirements into actionable insights for executive decision-making. They tackle business challenges and reveal hidden patterns within extensive datasets. Senior Data Scientists guide projects from inception to deployment, ensuring a strong alignment with business objectives while enhancing the efficiency and performance of data processes.

Primary Responsibilities

• Gather data from a wide variety of sources within IT units ensure its quality and integrity.
• Perform Exploratory Data Analysis (EDA) and investigations on organizational data to discover large, high-risk, and/or high-value patterns, spot anomalies and trends, and check and validate assumptions.
• Develop more complex and sophisticated models, often involving large datasets and advanced algorithms.
• Create visual representations of data to communicate findings effectively and share with other Data Scientists for input and storytelling.
• Develop data science projects from inception to deployment, ensuring alignment with business goals.
• Guide cross-functional teams in data-driven initiatives, identify opportunities for improvement and data usage and ensure successful implementation of solutions.
• Prepare reports and presentations to convey insights and recommendations.
• Provide ideas to improve the efficiency of data processes and model performance.
• Stay updated with the latest tools, techniques, and industry trends in data science and bring ideas to the table for how to improve the use of data and analytics.
• Begins to provide strategic insights and recommendations based on data analysis to influence business decisions.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s, master’s or PhD degree in mathematics, Statistics or Computer Science or related field; master’s degree + preferred.
• Typically, 5 + years of relevant quantitative and qualitative research, analytics, data science or machine learning experience.
• Experience and solid understanding of machine learning algorithms and relational databases.
• Experience with data science modeling, statistics, analytics, business intelligence or data-driven business strategy.
• Experience managing and delivering complex and technical products.
• Experience performing statistical analysis and applying visualization techniques.
• Native-level proficiency/fluent in English.
