Job summary

Brooksource in Philadelphia, PA, is seeking a Senior Data Scientist (Lead or Principal) for a hybrid role. You will oversee a team of data scientists, guide ideation, and shape model development from exploratory data analysis to production deployment.

You will apply CRISP-DM, engage with stakeholders, and advance ML and Generative AI initiatives, working with MLOps, Data Eng, and ML engineers in a collaborative, innovative environment.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, or related quantitative field.
• 7+ years of hands-on data science experience with production ML models.
• Proven senior or lead experience, mentoring junior data scientists.
• Expert-level proficiency in Python and SQL.
• Deep experience with ML frameworks: Scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch.

Responsibilities

• Provide scientific oversight for the data science team, including leading ideation, reviewing EDA, and advising on feature development and model selection.
• Champion CRISP-DM and AI governance practices (NIST AI RMF) in projects.
• Build, experiment with, and deploy ML models (classification and regression).
• Drive feature development including Generative AI techniques for traditional ML models.
• Collaborate with ML Engineering, MLOps, and Data Engineering to enable deployment and productionalization.
• Coordinate with infrastructure for data access and alignment with stack.
• Translate business problems into defined data science initiatives.
• Stay current on data science, ML, and generative AI developments.

Brooksource is hiring a Senior Data Scientist (Lead or Principal) for a hybrid role in Philadelphia, PA.

Responsibilities

• Provide scientific oversight and guidance for team data scientists, including leading ideation sessions, reviewing initial exploratory data analysis (EDA), and advising on feature selection, feature development, model building, and model selection
• Champion best practices across the data science lifecycle, aligning execution with CRISP-DM and ensuring projects follow principles of the NIST AI Risk Management Framework (AI RMF)
• Build, experiment with, and deploy advanced machine learning models (including classification and regression) used across the business
• Drive advanced feature development approaches, including applying Generative AI to create novel features for traditional machine learning models
• Partner with ML Engineering, MLOps, and Data Engineering to support model deployment and productionalization
• Coordinate with infrastructure teams to ensure required data access and alignment with the technical stack
• Collaborate with business stakeholders and the data science team to identify high-impact problems and translate them into well-defined data science initiatives
• Stay current on developments in data science, machine learning, and generative AI, and promote continuous learning, experimentation, and innovation

Requirements

• Master’s degree or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related quantitative field
• 7+ years of hands‑on data science experience, including a track record of building and deploying impactful ML models in production
• Strong preference for experience working with complex domain data
• Proven senior or lead experience, including mentoring junior data scientists and providing technical project oversight
• Expert-level proficiency in Python and SQL
• Deep, hands‑on experience with machine learning frameworks and libraries, including Scikit-learn, TensorFlow, and PyTorch
• Proven experience with cloud platforms, preferably Google Cloud Platform (GCP), including Vertex AI and BigQuery
• Experience applying data science project methodologies such as CRISP-DM and AI governance frameworks such as NIST AI Risk Management Framework
• Experience with MLOps principles and collaborating with engineering teams to deploy and monitor models
• Some experience with or strong interest in generative AI, especially for feature development for traditional ML models
• Exceptional problem-solving skills with the ability to think creatively and strategically about complex business and technical challenges
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain complex scientific concepts to technical and non-technical audiences
• Collaborative working style that supports team growth and colleague development
