Job summary

Google LLC is seeking a Data Science Manager for Gmail to lead a team of data scientists and own the metrics that define Gmail's success. You will shape the AI strategy, guide data-driven product decisions, and partner with product and engineering teams to maximize impact across Workspace.

You will mentor senior engineers, drive analytical rigor, and communicate insights to leadership, balancing short-term needs with long-term data foundations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in a quantitative field
• 13 years analytics/experience or 10 with Master’s degree
• 5 years people management in a technical leadership role

Responsibilities

• Lead, develop, and grow a team of data scientists. Hire and retain top talent, coach senior ICs and emerging leaders, and build a culture of technical excellence, collaboration, and impact.
• Set the data science goal and roadmap for Gmail. Balance urgent product support with investments in metrics, data foundations, and methods.
• Define, own, and evolve Gmail's success metrics, including its north star. Report, analyze, forecast key metric trends and drive improvements.
• Shape the roadmap for Gmail AI. Identify high-value use cases, assess model quality, quantify impact on user productivity.
• Collaborate with Product, Engineering, UX, and cross-functional leaders to influence and support product strategy.
