Waymo LLC is seeking a senior data science leader to drive evaluation of the Waymo Driver's adherence to road rules. You will guide a team of data scientists, partner with product, engineering and systems teams, and shape the roadmap for scalable measurement across countries and hardware platforms.

The role emphasizes technical leadership and people management, with a focus on rigorous statistical methods and data-driven decision making to advance autonomous driving capabilities.

Qualifications

• Degree in a quantitative field is required.
• PhD in a quantitative field with 8+ years or 12+ years of industry data science experience.
• Experience as a technical lead and people manager.
• Experience in cross-functional teams and data-driven culture.
• Expertise in advanced statistical methods; familiarity with ML systems/models.
• Proficient in Python, R, and SQL for data analysis.

Responsibilities

• Define and uphold rigorous evaluation signals for Waymo Driver testing.
• Develop evaluation framework for road rules across countries.
• Collaborate with product, engineering, and systems teams to align roadmaps.
• Measure performance across territories and hardware platforms; report to stakeholders.
• Lead and mentor data scientists, shaping priorities and methodologies.
