Job summary

Betsson Group is seeking a Data Platform Engineer to design, develop, and operate scalable data platform frameworks that enable data teams to build and deploy data products rapidly. You will create self-service capabilities across the data development lifecycle, focusing on orchestration, data quality, and schema management.

You will also advance data modeling standards, work with AWS cloud services, and collaborate with Data DevOps to automate, observe, and deploy features via CI/CD.

Qualifications

• Strong software engineering fundamentals with Python or Java.
• Experience building reusable frameworks, libraries, or internal tools.
• Experience with Snowflake and Redshift.
• Deep knowledge of SQL and data integration patterns.
• Knowledge of AWS services: S3, Glue, Lambda, DMS, RDS.
• Excellent English communication, both written and spoken.

Responsibilities

• Design and build scalable, reusable frameworks and services for data ingestion, transformation, and processing.
• Develop and maintain the platform's core capabilities, such as orchestration, data quality validation, and schema management tools.
• Engineer self-service features to empower data engineers and analysts to manage their data assets.
• Focus on DataDevEx to improve the experience for anyone interacting with the data platform.
• Implement and enforce data modeling standards and best practices through automated tools.
• Evolve the platform architecture to incorporate new tech for scalability, reliability and cost-efficiency.
• Collaborate with Data DevOps Engineers to ensure features are automated, observable, and CI/CD deployed.
• Contribute to the platform roadmap by identifying features that unlock value.

The Wow

This role is central to building the core of our data platform. You will design, develop, and operate the foundational features and frameworks that enable our data teams to build and deploy data products with speed and confidence. Instead of focusing on individual data pipelines, your mission will be to create scalable, self-service capabilities that accelerate the entire data development lifecycle.

A taster of what you will be involved with:

• Design and build scalable, reusableframeworks and services for data ingestion, transformation, and processing.
• Develop and maintain the platform's core capabilities, such as orchestration, data quality validation, and schema management tools.
• Engineer self-service features that empower data engineers and analysts to manage their own data assets efficiently.
• Focus on improving the Data Developer Experience (DataDevEx) for anyone interacting with the data platform.
• Implement and enforce data modeling standards and best practices through automated tools and platform features.
• Evolve the platform's architecture to incorporate new technologies that improve scalability, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.
• Collaborate with Data DevOps Engineers to ensure platform features are automated, observable, and deployed via CI/CD.
• Act as a key contributor to the platform's roadmap, identifying and prioritizing features that unlock the most value for its users.

What we are looking for

Must haves:

• Strong software engineering fundamentals, with experience in a language likePythonorJava.
• Experience building reusable frameworks, libraries, or internal tools.
• Experience with modern cloud database technologies such asSnowflakeandRedshift.
• Deep knowledge ofSQLand data integration patterns.
• Knowledge of AWS Services likeS3, Glue, Lambda, DMS, and RDS.
• Familiarity with Data concepts and data modeling techniques (Inmon, Kimball, Data Vault).
• Excellent verbal and writing English communication skills

Nice to have:

• Experience with orchestrating data pipelines using tools likeAirflow.
• Experience building or managing APIs and microservices.
• Familiarity with infrastructure scripting likeTerraformand CI/CD practices.
• Familiarity with data streaming technologies such asKafka.
• Familiarity with software versioning tools likeGIT.
• University Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent/
• At least 3 years experience in Data Engineering or at least 1 years experience in Data Platform Engineering.
