Job summary

Empower is seeking a Senior Data Platform Engineer to design, build, and support scalable data platform solutions in a modern cloud environment. You will work with cross-functional teams to implement data integration and platform capabilities while remaining hands-on with development and reviews.

You will mentor junior engineers, contribute to standards, and help ensure operational resilience with monitoring and recovery processes.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in CS or equivalent experience.
  • 6–9+ years of software or data engineering experience.
  • Production experience building data platforms.
  • CI/CD automation for data deployments.
  • Experience with Oracle, PostgreSQL, Redshift, Snowflake, Kafka.
  • Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, Ansible.
  • Strong SQL and Python.
  • Knowledge of distributed systems and cloud architectures.
  • Strong problem-solving and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement data platform solutions using cloud tech.
  • Develop and adopt best practices for config mgmt, observability, testing, readiness.
  • Build and support end-to-end data integration pipelines to targets.
  • Participate in design sessions and code reviews for complex data solutions.

The Senior Data Platform Engineer is a key contributor responsible for designing, building, and supporting scalable, reliable, and secure data platform solutions. This role partners closely with cross-functional teams to implement data integration and platform capabilities, while contributing to best practices and standards. The engineer remains hands-on with development, code reviews, and production support, and helps guide less experienced engineers.

What you will do
  • Design and implement data platform solutions including data streaming, CDC, data warehouse, data lake, and ETL/ELT pipelines using modern cloud-based technologies.
  • Contribute to the development and adoption of best practices for data platform configuration management, observability, testing, and operational readiness.
  • Build and support end-to-end data integration pipelines from source systems through Kafka and/or Striim to analytical and operational targets.
  • Participate in engineering design sessions and code reviews for complex data solutions across multiple systems and platforms.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve production issues related to data platform performance, scalability, and reliability.
  • Collaborate with architects, platform engineering, security, and governance teams to align solutions with enterprise standards and data strategy.
  • Support implementation of operational resilience practices, including monitoring, alerting, and data recovery processes.
  • Evaluate and help adopt new technologies and tools that improve data platform capabilities.

Base Salary Range

$105,700.00 - $149,275.00

The salary range above shows the typical minimum to maximum base salary range for this position in the location listed. Non-sales positions have the opportunity to participate in a bonus program. Sales positions are eligible for sales incentives, and in some instances a bonus plan, whereby total compensation may far exceed base salary depending on individual performance. Actual compensation offered may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer.
