As part of our Data & Analytics organization, you’ll unlock trusted insights that drive bold decisions, power personalized customer experiences, and deliver lasting business impact. We’re building the future of data - one that’s governed responsibly, engineered for scalability, and designed for growth. When you join us, you’re not just supporting the business - you’re empowering it. Let’s transform insight into impact and data into action, together.

The Opportunity

The Senior Data Modeler is responsible for translating business requirements into scalable conceptual, logical, and physical data models that support production-grade data and analytics solutions across MetLife’s global Data & Analytics organization. This is an exciting opportunity to bring advanced data modeling expertise to enterprise-wide initiatives, working closely as part of a cross-functional team to build dimensional models directly within Databricks.

Key Responsibilities
  • Translate business requirements into scalable conceptual, logical, and physical data model designs, including dimensional (star and snowflake) schemas built and deployed within Databricks Lakehouse environments
  • Develop and optimize dimensional data models, data dictionaries, ER diagrams, and metadata/data catalog assets for performance, scalability, and deployment across on-premises and cloud platforms (Azure Synapse, Databricks, Delta Lake, Unity Catalog)
  • Perform data profiling, validation, and lineage analysis to ensure model accuracy, consistency, and adherence to enterprise and industry-standard modeling best practices
  • Contribute to design, solutioning, and estimation efforts for complex, enterprise-wide data initiatives as part of a collaborative data modeling team
  • Collaborate with partners across Business, Technology, Operations, and Data & Analytics capabilities, including Data Governance, Data Quality, Data Architecture, Data Science, DevOps, and BI & Insights
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or an equivalent field of experience
  • 5-8+ years of experience in conceptual, logical, and physical data modeling, including advanced dimensional modeling (3NF, star schema, snowflake schema) and data vault modeling
  • Hands-on experience building and optimizing star schemas and dimensional models within Databricks (Delta Lake, Unity Catalog, Databricks SQL or experience with similar technologies) to support enterprise analytics and reporting
  • Proficiency with data modeling tools such as Erwin or ER/Studio, SQL/NoSQL schema design, relational databases (SQL, Oracle), and cloud data platforms (Azure Synapse, Databricks, Cosmos DB, Snowflake)
  • Strong communication, analytical, storytelling, and stakeholder engagement skills, with proven experience in mentoring project teams
Preferred Qualifications
  • Ideally 8+ years of experience in Datawarehouse modeling.
  • Data management/modeling certification (e.g., CDMP, Erwin certification) and experience with data cataloging and governance tools such as Collibra or Alation
  • Experience with master data management (MDM), and data lineage frameworks
  • Experience in B2B/Financial services/insurance domain with exposure to Generative AI technology and tools

Location Expectation: This is a hybrid role requiring a minimum of 3 days per week in office.

The expected salary range for this position is $115,000 - $154,000. This role may also be eligible for annual short-term incentive compensation and stock-based long-term incentives. All incentives and benefits are subject to the applicable plan terms.
