Job summary

Cisco Systems, Inc. is seeking a strategic Legal Counsel to lead global privacy, data governance, and AI governance initiatives.

You will translate complex regulatory requirements into actionable guidance for product, engineering, and business teams, balancing risk with innovation across Ciscos technologies and data-driven initiatives. You will advise on enterprise data governance, data sourcing, sharing, and lifecycle governance, while developing policies, training, and governance programs.

Qualifications

Juris Doctor and active bar membership required.
8+ years of legal experience in privacy, data governance, or tech transactions.
Deep expertise in global privacy laws (GDPR, CCPA/CPRA) and AI governance.
Experience leading enterprise governance programs in large tech companies.

Responsibilities

Interpret and advise on privacy, data protection, and AI governance under domestic and international laws.
Lead enterprise data governance frameworks, standards, and controls.
Counsel on data classification, data inventories, data stewardship, and data access governance.
Draft Data Processing and Data Sharing Agreements and AI-related clauses.
Partner with product, engineering, security, and compliance to operationalize governance.
Develop guidelines for assessing legal risks in analytics/AI/data uses.
Advise leadership on data-related risk and opportunities.
Lead responses to regulatory inquiries, audits, investigations, and litigation readiness.
Collaborate with Government Affairs on data legislation and governance frameworks.
