Job summary

Caterpillar Inc. is seeking a Senior Software Engineer on the Data Engineering team to develop Python data pipelines that build business data objects for supporting applications.

You will work with Cat Digital and partners to deploy scalable data solutions and contribute to global data initiatives. Expect ownership of complex engineering tasks, building CI/CD pipelines, and implementing pipelines from source to target.

Qualifications

• Experience in Python development and data pipelines.
• Strong knowledge of OOP principles.
• Experience with Git version control on medium to large teams.
• Deploying software using CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps.
• Experience with AWS components such as Lambda, Kinesis, Event Bridge, CloudWatch, CloudFormation, DynamoDB, Fargate, S3, SageMaker, IAM and RDS.

Responsibilities

• Develop Python data pipelines to build business data objects for applications.
• Perform complex programming and development tasks with minimal supervision.
• Build and deploy CI/CD pipelines and implement source-to-target mapping as pipeline code.
• Conduct unit and integration testing and ensure software quality.
• Identify areas for growth and drive improvement within the team.
• Adhere to high standards of software quality and established best practices.
• Other duties as assigned by Caterpillar management.
