Job summary

National Capitol Contracting is seeking a Data Engineer II I to join our Washington, DC team onsite. The role leverages data analytics, BI tools, and cloud technologies to improve operational effectiveness, program performance, and decision-making across Navy-related programs.

The ideal candidate has 9+ years of experience, strong analytical and visualization skills, and hands-on experience with SQL, Python, and AWS in cloud data environments.

Qualifications

• 9+ years of data analytics, BI, or related field.
• Active Secret clearance required.
• Experience with dashboard tools (Tableau, PowerBI, Qlik).
• Experience writing and optimizing SQL queries.
• Experience with AWS cloud environments.
• Strong written and verbal communication.
• Ability to translate business requirements into analytics solutions.
• Experience with data governance and large datasets.

Responsibilities

• Analyze structured and unstructured data to identify trends and actionable insights.
• Design, develop, and maintain dashboards and reports using PowerBI, Qlik Sense/QlikView.
• ETL/data manipulation using SQL, Python, PostgreSQL.
• Support data integration across multiple systems and data sources including Data Lakes and legacy databases.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to understand requirements and translate into analytics solutions.
• Develop data models, KPIs, and performance metrics.
• Perform data quality assessments and propose improvements.
• Create visualizations and presentations to communicate findings to technical and non-technical audiences.
• Document methodologies in line with NAVSEA and DoD standards.
