Job summary

Schupan in Kalamazoo, MI, is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to design and maintain data pipelines and models on Databricks. You will connect our systems, build AI-enabled tools, and work directly with trading, recycling, and operations teams to deliver actionable data solutions.

The role requires 5+ years in data engineering, strong SQL skills, Python, and API experience; Claude and Replit experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, data engineering, applied mathematics, or a similar field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Data Engineer or similar role.
• Hands-on experience building and operating data pipelines in Databricks (Spark, SQL, Delta Lake).
• Strong SQL skills (T-SQL) and Microsoft SQL Server.
• Proficiency in Python.
• Experience designing and consuming APIs (REST; GraphQL a plus) and working with integration platforms.
• Demonstrated use of Claude and Replit or comparable AI coding tools.
• Experience integrating cloud services with on-premises systems; Azure Data Factory and SSIS a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain data pipelines and models in Databricks.
• Connect operational systems to Databricks and to each other via APIs and integration tools.
• Build AI-powered tools and internal apps to accelerate business processes.
• Collaborate with trading, recycling, and operations teams to deliver data solutions.
• Ensure data quality and governance across relational and unstructured sources.
• Translate business needs into technical requirements for leadership.
