Job summary

Simbe Robotics is hiring a Data Engineer to own the design, implementation, and scaling of our analytics infrastructure in the San Francisco Bay Area. This hybrid role requires residency in the Burlingame area with 2–3 days/week in the office and no remote eligibility.

You will enable analytics engineers and data scientists to build reliable metrics while partnering with the cloud/data teams to optimize costs, ensure data quality, and maintain governance and security across data assets.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Science or related field highly recommended, not required.
• 5+ years of experience with SQL, BigQuery, Terraform, Apache Beam, Airflow, and GCP.
• Hands-on expertise with dbt and event-driven analytics highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Data Warehousing: Ingest data from Postgres, Google Cloud Storage, Jira, web analytics platforms, and other sources into BigQuery; use dbt to create data-marts for AI/BI tools.
• External Data Exchange: Guide data ingestion from and delivery to clients; establish scalable, traceable inbound feeds and large outbound reporting extracts.
• Optimizing and Monitoring Cloud Costs: Monitor and implement controls to keep data warehousing costs predictable; align application data with warehouse insights.
• Data Quality & Governance: Use dbt to build a robust data-testing framework and comprehensive metric documentation; promote DataOps.
• Security & Compliance: Ensure account permissions are enforced and data warehouse complies with GDPR, PII laws, SOC 2, etc.
