Job summary

Stoke Space in Kent, WA is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to help design and scale our backend data services and pipelines. You will work hybrid, collaborating with a mission-driven team to deliver high-quality data tooling for analytics and operations.

The role emphasizes systems programming (Python, Rust, Golang) and AWS-based infrastructure, with a focus on time-series data, Parquet formats, and scalable pipelines. Strong communication and on-call readiness are valued.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or related field / experience
• 3–5 years of experience in software development
• Professional experience with one or more systems programming languages (Python, Rust, Golang, etc)
• 2+ years of professional experience in Rust strongly desired
• Experience with core AWS services and infrastructure design (EC2, S3, Fargate, Lambdas, IAM)
• Experience with Parquet and relational databases in analytics workflows
• Experience with high volume data pipelines and time series data (InfluxDB, TimescaleDB)
• Experience with infrastructure as code tools (Pulumi or Terraform)

Responsibilities

• Implement and scale the infrastructure supporting Stoke’s Data APIs, Infrastructure and Pipelines
• Design and develop robust solutions for monitoring, observability, and deployment of data services
• Write maintainable code with unit, integration and end-to-end tests
• Collaborate with developers to ensure designs meet specifications
• Contribute to CI pipeline improvements and on-call support
• Learn and adopt new technologies and trends
