Job summary

Cenosco is building a new data platform and seeks a Senior Data Engineer to shape its architecture, tooling, and the single source of truth for our products and teams.

You will design from scratch, evaluate Snowflake/Databricks, and integrate data from multiple sources while collaborating with Product, Engineering, and Domain Expertise. This role offers remote UK work with a small, autonomous team and a strong emphasis on ownership.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of professional experience in Data Engineering.
• Experience in SaaS or Data-as-a-Service environments.
• Strong SQL and Python skills.
• Hands-on experience building ELT/ETL pipelines.
• Strong data modelling skills (dimensional or lakehouse).
• Production experience with a modern cloud data platform (Snowflake or Databricks; BigQuery or Synapse welcome).
• Experience integrating data from multiple heterogeneous sources.
• Experience influencing architectural and tooling decisions and communicating trade-offs.
• Comfortable operating without a backlog, structure, or playbook.
• Fluent English and strong communication skills.

About the Role

At Cenosco , we build Asset Integrity Management Software trusted by global leaders in Oil & Gas, Chemicals, Energy and beyond. We are building a new data platform from the ground up, and we need a Senior Data Engineer to shape it: the architecture, the tooling, and the single source of truth our products and teams will rely on.

You will join the Data Engineering team, make real architectural decisions, and bring a pioneering mindset. No tools are set in stone, so we expect you to propose what works best and back it with reasoning.

What You’ll Do

Platform & Architecture

• Design and build our data platform from scratch, from ingestion to modelling to consumption

• Take part in architectural decisions and help choose the right technologies (Snowflake, Databricks, or something you propose)

• Research, evaluate, and implement a single source of truth across our data landscape

Data Integration

• Connect and consolidate data from multiple IMS databases and other heterogeneous sources

• Design and build reliable, scalable ELT/ETL pipelines

• Develop data models that serve both product and analytical needs

Collaboration

• Work closely with Product, Engineering, Domain Expertise, and other departments to turn business needs into solid data solutions

• Raise the quality bar through code reviews, documentation, and knowledge sharing

• Help shape engineering practices and standards as the team grows

What You’ll Need

• 8+ years of professional experience in Data Engineering

• Professional experience in a SaaS or Data-as-a-Service environment

• Solid SQL and Python

• Hands‑on experience designing and building ELT/ETL pipelines

• Strong data modelling skills (dimensional and/or lakehouse)

• Production experience with at least one modern cloud data platform (Snowflake or Databricks ideal; BigQuery or Synapse also welcome)

• Experience integrating data from multiple heterogeneous sources

• Experience owning or influencing architectural and tooling decisions, and the ability to explain the trade‑offs

• Comfortable building without an existing backlog, structure, or playbook

• Fluent English and strong communication skills

Bonus Points For

• Experience with orchestration and transformation tools (Airflow, dbt, Dagster)

• Infrastructure as code and CI/CD (Terraform, Git‑based workflows)

• Experience with data governance, data quality, or master data management

• Experience with Azure (or another major cloud)
