Meridian Systematics LLC is seeking a Senior Data Engineer for a hybrid role in Springfield, VA. You will design and maintain scalable data systems, including data warehouses or lakes, while implementing ETL/ELT processes and ensuring data quality and governance.

The ideal candidate has strong SQL skills, experience with Spark/Hadoop/Kafka, and hands-on cloud experience across AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud. A Top Secret clearance is required and collaboration with data scientists and business

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
Experience as a Data Engineer or similar role
Proficiency in SQL and at least one: Python, Java, or Scala
Strong experience with both relational databases (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL) and NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, Cassandra)
Hands-on experience with big data tools such as Apache Spark, Hadoop, or Kafka
Familiarity with cloud services: AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud
Experience with ETL frameworks and tools such as Talend, Informatica, or AWS Glue
Active Top Secret clearance (Required): Top Secret

Implement and manage ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) and ELT (Extract, Load, Transform) to move and transform data between systems
Build and maintain unified catalog and data warehouse and/or data lake solutions, including creating and managing table schemas

Preferred Qualifications

In-depth knowledge of data modeling techniques, including star and snowflake schemas
Experience with Docker and Kubernetes
Understanding of CI/CD principles and experience with related tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI)
Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with various teams
