Job summary

RealPage, Inc. is building out its Front Office Screening BI and Data Warehouse capabilities. This Senior Data Engineer will own SQL Server-based reporting, ETL, and data warehouse code, ensuring reports are reliable and performant.

Onsite in Richardson, TX, you’ll collaborate with QA and BAs to validate outputs, respond to tickets, and evolve warehouse structures while using AI-assisted tools to accelerate SQL development and debugging.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of professional experience in Data Warehouse, ETL, and Reporting systems.
• Deep hands-on expertise with Microsoft SQL Server and T-SQL, including performance tuning and indexing.
• Strong hands-on experience authoring and maintaining SSIS packages in Visual Studio 2017/2019+ with deployment.
• Strong experience maintaining SSRS reports (rdl) including datasets, parameters, and rendering.
• Solid relational data modeling skills for OLTP staging and warehouse structures, with experience in large schemas.

Responsibilities

RealPage, Inc. is building out its Front Office Screening BI and Data Warehouse capabilities, and this Senior Data Engineer role focuses on the systems that keep reporting reliable, traceable, and performant. You will own SQL Server-based reporting, ETL, and data warehouse code, designing enhancements and fixes that stand up in production environments and support downstream consumers.

Working onsite in Richardson, TX, you will partner with teams across QA and business analysis to validate outputs, respond to service tickets, and evolve warehouse structures over time. The position also includes using AI-assisted development tools to accelerate day-to-day SQL and troubleshooting work.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain SSIS packages (Visual Studio 2019+) that load transactional and reference data into the reporting warehouse.
• Design, build, and enhance SSRS reports (.rdl) with attention to performance.
• Write and optimize T-SQL including stored procedures, functions, views, and triggers, aligned to team SQL object templates and naming conventions.
• Diagnose and resolve production data and report issues from Service Requests and Defects, performing root cause analysis and delivering durable fixes.
• Tune query and package performance using indexing strategy, execution plan analysis, batching, partitioning, and ETL throughput improvements.
• Model and evolve relational schemas (dimensions, fact tables, staging, and source-of-truth structures) to support new reporting needs without breaking existing consumers.
• Manage environment and configuration changes safely across Dev, QA, and Prod (for example, server moves and connection updates).
• Review pull requests in Azure DevOps, enforcing SQL and SSIS standards and protecting downstream report contracts.
• Partner with QA and BAs to validate report output against business expectations and historical data.
• Maintain auditability and traceability for data, ETL packages, and report changes.
• Mentor junior data and report engineers, and contribute to internal documentation, templates, and onboarding materials.
• Use AI-assisted development tools to accelerate T-SQL authoring, SSIS package review, report changes, troubleshooting, and test data generation.

What you’ll bring

• 7+ years of professional experience building and supporting production Data Warehouse, ETL, and Reporting systems.
• Deep hands-on expertise with Microsoft SQL Server and T‑SQL, including performance tuning, indexing, execution plan analysis, and advanced query constructs.
• Strong hands-on experience authoring and maintaining SSIS packages in Visual Studio (2017/2019 or later), including control flow, data flow, parameterization, configurations, error handling, and deployment.
• Strong experience designing and maintaining SSRS reports (.rdl), including datasets, parameters, expressions, subreports, and rendering for operational and customer-facing use.
• Solid relational data modeling skills for OLTP staging and warehouse/reporting structures, with comfort working in a large existing schema with many downstream dependencies.
• Experience operating in a regulated environment with change control, segregation of duties, and audit evidence requirements.
• Comfort with ticket-driven Kanban delivery (Service Requests, Defects, User Stories) and PR-based change management in Azure DevOps / GitHub.
• Strong analytical skills and ability to perform root‑cause analysis on production data issues.
• Hands-on experience with AI-assisted coding, specifically Claude Code, for authoring and reviewing T‑SQL, navigating large SSIS/SSRS codebases, generating and validating test data, drafting documentation, and troubleshooting production issues.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including translating business and compliance requirements into precise data changes.

Preferred background

• Familiarity with consumer screening, tenant screening, or financial services billing domain.
• Experience with SSAS, Power BI, or other reporting/analytics layers built on top of SQL Server.
• Experience with SQL Server Agent jobs, scheduling, modern SQL tooling, and operational monitoring of ETL/report workloads.
• Exposure to cloud data platforms (Redshift, QuickSight) and migration patterns from on-prem SQL Server.
• Source control hygiene in Azure DevOps or GitHub, including setting up CI checks for SQL/SSIS artifacts.
• Experience producing and maintaining data lineage and impact analysis for reports and downstream consumers.

Location: Richardson, TX (onsite). Compensation: USD 105,800 - 180,200 per year. Minimum experience: 7 years.
