Job summary

Spearmint Energy is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to own and evolve the data platform, pipelines, and analytics serving market research and operations. Based in Miami, you will work on AWS, Snowflake, Airflow, and Python to design scalable data architectures and reliable data ingestion.

You will partner with the Research team and Engineering Manager to set standards, implement robust testing, and optimize performance and cost while advancing clean energy analytics across the business.

Qualifications

• BS degree in a technical field.
• 5+ years building production data pipelines.
• Strong experience with Python and SQL beyond scripts and notebooks.
• Strong Snowflake depth: clustering, incremental loading, query profiling, cost control.
• Strong experience with Airflow or comparable orchestrator in production.
• Working knowledge of AWS for routine DevOps on your own services.
• Demonstrated ownership of data modeling and transformation standards.
• Passion for clean energy.

Role: Senior Data Engineer

Location: Miami, FL (4 days In-Office, 1 day Remote)

Spearmint Energy is an integrated energy infrastructure platform focused on developing, owning, operating, and optimizing battery energy storage systems ("BESS") to reduce grid volatility,provide system stability for new large loads,and increase system resiliency. What You Will Do

We are looking for an experienced Data Engineer to join our small but growing team and raise the level of how we acquire, transform, and serve data. You will own our data platform and the pipelines that feed market research and operations. We run on a solid foundation of Snowflake, AWS, Airflow, and Python. You will own the architecture and standards that scale with it. This professional will be a member of the Research team and report directly to the Engineering Manager.

Who You Are

• Working knowledge of AWS, enough for routine DevOps on your own services
• Demonstrated ownership of data modeling and transformation standardsA track record of raising standards inside an existing codebase
• Passion for clean energy

Nice To Haves

• Familiarity with power system concepts (load, generation, transmission, MW vs. MWh), energy markets, and energy storage
• Experience with dbt or a comparable transformation framework
• Experience with high-frequency time-series data
• Comfortable owning infrastructure as code (CloudFormation, CDK)
• Deep AWS expertise beyond routine DevOps, especially networking and hybrid connectivity
